How is the YDT structured?

The YDT runs for 12 months, beginning every January through to mid-December, including several term breaks. You will join the Ellel Ministries’ team in Sydney and will live on site.

We’ve joined training and service, making discipleship practical and applicable.

Training

This component includes participation in life-skill sessions, prayer ministry workshops, theological studies, and receiving pastoral care through mentors. Students undertaking accredited training as part of the YDT will be enrolled in the 10742NAT Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and Theology. This nationally accredited qualification is provided by Unity College Australia (UCA) RTO 6330 and delivered by Ellel Ministries as a partnering campus of UCA (see unity.edu.au, read the Course Outline or check out our Student Handbook for more information).

All these aspects will help you to develop a deeper understanding of the Bible and how to apply its principles in your everyday life.

Service

The Service component includes many jobs that involve working behind the scenes; such as cooking, cleaning and preparing rooms, washing up, grounds work and maintenance. Other jobs put you in direct contact with our guests as you welcome them, serve their meals and make them feel comfortable and loved. Service is where you learn to work within a team, work under authority and gain experience in leadership on a variety of projects and tasks. Serving in these areas also allows us to significantly reduce the YDT course fees, keeping them well below what would be expected for any full-board accredited course of study.
